The Foundation Center has added to the body of literature examining the current period of philanthropy for social justice and organizing work. Read more about that new study and our own research.
The DataCenter and NOA conducted the Sustaining Organizing Study to document the impact of the economic downturn on organizing and movement building organizations. There already have been many studies and reports that have documented the impact on the non-profit sector as a whole. Our study focused on uncovering how the downturn is affecting organizing and what strategies and best practices are being used to sustain the work through this period.
Over the years we have seen hundreds of books published that address topics of interest to community and labor organizers across the country. Included here is a listing of the more recent books written by members of the National Organizers Alliance. This is a work in progress. Please contact us directly if you wish to add to our selection.
Now available at the University of Maryland, College Park are archives recording the history of NOA's movement building efforts. A lot has happened since our founding meetings in 1993, which you'll see in over 20 boxes of documentation including paper files, posters, photos, audio and video tapes available to the general public.
