NOA Staff

Leah McKenzie, Pension Director                                        

Leah brings a wealth of experience in union pension plans, having worked with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) National Pension Fund and the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). She majored in Mathematics at Canisus College in Buffalo, NY and is a mother of four children.

Cathy HowellArk Editor Cathy Howell directs the Leadership Development Program in the Field Mobilization Department at the AFL-CIO. Prior to joining the Southern Regional Field staff of the AFL-CIO in 1997, she worked as a community organizer and trainer at Western States Center in Oregon, at Grassroots Leadership in North Carolina, and at South Carolina United Action. She has also worked at Oregon NARAL, Oregon Fair Share, and ACORN in Arkansas. She is a founding member of NOA and served on the Steering Committee for 3 terms in the mid 90's. She serves on the NOA boards and volunteers as NOA's Ark Editor.

NOA Executive Director Walter Davis                                                                           

Davis was the Director of the Southern Empowerment Project (Maryville, Tennessee) from 2004 to 2007 and since 1988 trained hundreds of community organizers in SEP programs. He was a founding member of the National Organizers Alliance at the 1993 discussion in Oakland. He was a Windcall resident in 1999. Davis has coordinated a wide range of trainings in community organizing, fundraising and overcoming oppression. Among his varied work experiences: U.S. Peace Corps in Colombia in community development, recruiter/trainer with Canadian peace corps CUSO,  Vietnam antiwar organizer in the 70s in Ontario, and ten years as popular educator at Saskatchewan's One Sky Center training in international and domestic development issues. Davis is a native of Louisville, Kentucky where he first became involved for racial justice over forty-five years ago as a teenager. Contact Davis: walter at noacentral.org

Office Assistant Andrew Williams is a resident of Maryland. Andrew  attended Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. He has experience in real estate office administration and property management. Andrew worked in the 1990s for the Peace Corps in its DC headquarters.
